At the Clearing

Fox State Forest is a managed forest where selective logging occasionally opens up the canopy. When that happens, trees that once grew in dense shade suddenly find themselves at the forest’s edge, and long-hidden views of distant New Hampshire mountains emerge — just for a time, before new growth fills in again. I’m fascinated by these moments of transition where forest history, human management, and natural regrowth intersect.
