Birch Overlook

In late fall, after most leaves have dropped, birch stands open up. The white trunks line up in front of whatever view was hidden all summer; distant ridgelines, sky, the sense of space beyond the forest edge. This piece is about that moment when the canopy thins and the landscape beyond comes back into view.
