Hemlock Hotel

Out on a winter hike I came across a double-trunked hemlock with a couple of small cavities at its base — clear signs of winter shelter for rodents moving beneath the snow. This piece grew out of that moment of noticing — the way snow gathers, the texture of bark, and the subtle evidence of wildlife making use of the forest in colder months
