Wolf in Green

Wolf trees are the large, spreading trees that grew in the open along field edges and the fence lines of old farms. They develope wide, reaching branch structures that forest-grown trees never achieve. The stone wall at the base of this pine marks that history. This wolf tree still stands at a field's edge, its form a record of the open landscape that has always surrounded it.
